GoPro vibration/shake test

Took the GoPro to work for some vibration and shake testing. For a "Sports Camera" these things sure don't like much movement. I am going to have to completely design and build an anti vib mount for the helicopter for it to even work at all. This video has very little shake to it, but it picked up every one. I think I might try wood and build a platform for the heli to sit on, then sandwhich everything between foam.

PP - You might try using some anti-vibration grommets that are available from McMaster.  These are the grommets that are used to protect hard drives.  I think that's actually what these particular ones were designed for.  They are also used on the Hoverfly quad controller board.  Here is a posting that shows a pretty good picture of the grommets:

That posting shows the grommets well, but it is actually about some standoffs I made to use the grommets properly.  I still have some of the standoffs if you want a set to try.  I eventually made parts for everyone in the group.  You are someone that might enjoy this video of me doing that.

The video was a little shaky, but I could still hear the trees screaming.

 

Built an anti vib GoPro mount today, it was only going to be a 2 hour job, 5 hours later I was done. It's very ugly, cheap, and won't survive any kind of a crash. But, for $5.00 I think I am getting $100 results. This flight is raw footage out of the camera, no editing. No autopilot stuff either, just me hovering manually the best I could in a scary small place. And the neat part is if you turn the volume waaaaaay up, you can actually hear the rotor blades making that rotor blade sound.......awesome  8)

Do you have some photos/close up video showing the details of this mount?

 

It's amazing how much "vibration"a human body absorbs -put a GoPro on a helmet, or Chest harness and it is as smooth as butter.

 

Took the new setup out for a test today after work, it flew great, all the way up to the scene of the crash  .........

Not too bad, flybar, main blades, main gear, etc..............
